The Traversée largely follows the route of the L'Essentielle course but without the climb up to Chasseral.

The Traversée course begins with a steep climb to the ridge and a sharp descent to Cortébert and the first aid station. A peaceful stretch along the river provides an ideal opportunity to recover. A rolling climb leads to St-Imier, followed by a challenging ascent of the Col du Sergent to reach the Mt-Crosin wind farm. A final push takes runners to Tramelan and the finish line. Note: The Traversée is the second stage of the Grand Chasseral Trail Series, along with the Villeret-Chasseral-Villeret race and the 7 Lieues trail (Cobblestone Race).
