The Essential is a route which condenses the most beautiful sites of the Bernese Jura, hence its name.
This L'Essentielle course requires good physical preparation for those who wish to take on a challenge by covering a distance close to a marathon but in the heart of nature, with added elevation. After a climb on the ridge, you will pass through the Mt-Crosin wind farm before descending to Villeret. Then follows the climb to Chasseral through the heart of Combe-Grède. If the weather permits, you will see the entire 3 lakes region with the Alps in the background during the descent to the Central Place. A descent to Cortébert to tackle the last difficulty, a steep climb to reach the crest and then descend to the finish.
